Greetings! I’m so glad you’re here. ♥
A little about me:
Growing up, I often felt misunderstood, my concerns not heard, and at times completely lost. This happened especially at school between struggling with ADHD and understanding academics to try to maneuver social situations with a lack of support from adults. These experiences continue to teach and inspire me in ways that I can guide kids into understanding themselves (and academics) better.
After seven years in a public school classroom, with 2.5 years in a wild adventure of COVID protocols and flexibility, I found that my passion was not only helping kids to understand academic concepts but the feelings that arise around not understanding something, helping one another, and sitting in productive struggle. In the final years of being in the classroom, I made it my goal to work with kids on ways to help regulate their nervous systems, including assisting them to understand what that even meant. With mindfulness and breathwork tools, I have had the joy of witnessing kids feel success, even when it takes some perseverance. All kids have the innate ability to be and FEEL seen and successful.
Currently, I am no longer in the classroom. I have focused my time on helping my community members with flood relief, and I see students regularly after school hours. The most significant change has been my work toward achieving my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health at Vermont State College. I aim to help kids and young adults work through life’s challenges with greater ease and understanding.
When I’m not helping people, I am immersed in nature with my dog Bodhi. He is a constant reminder of unconditional love, patience, and joy in the little things.
A little about my tutoring practice:
Within my tutoring practice focused on math and literacy, I incorporate breathwork and grounding activities to help optimize focus. I also understand that relationship building, trust, and having fun go a long way in learning, and this is a priority during my tutoring sessions. I help set up systems that work for kids, like schedules, routines, etc., so they walk away with more than just understanding how to complete a math problem. Homework help is always an option!
